Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is the patroness of Holy Name of Mary Parish. This is the history of the Hail Mary prayer. The Litany of the Holy Name of Mary is also presented. The Hail Mary is composed of three parts. The first two parts are from the New Testament written by Saint Luke.
"Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women", are the words of the angel Gabriel at the Annunciation (Luke 1:28).
The words "Mary" and "Jesus" along with "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen." were added by the Church. |
The text of the Hail Mary prayer is presented here in nine languages. In addition, the Litany of the Holy Name of Mary, the patroness of our parish, is presented in English. |
